Mia Coffey

  • Dental Hygienist

Meet Mia, a passionate advocate for oral health and a dedicated dental professional. From a young age, Mia discovered her enduring interest in dental care, and she knew she wanted to pursue a career in healthcare. What she loved even more than teeth was connecting with people and listening to their stories, and this empathetic spirit is something she brings to Dame Street Dental every day to make their patients feel comfortable and at home.

After leaving school, Mia worked as a Dental Nurse for nearly three years, immersing herself in patient care and assisting the dentist to ensure the best possible experience for each individual. During this time, her ambition to become a Dental Hygienist grew stronger, and she decided to enroll in the Dental Hygienist Diploma course at Trinity College Dublin and the Dublin Dental University Hospital. Mia's understanding and appreciation of the importance of periodontal care continued to flourish, and she dedicated herself to developing lasting patient relationships as a Dental Nurse, always providing a calming presence before treatment begins.

Mia firmly believes that maintaining healthy gums is essential for overall oral health and preventing long-term tooth loss. Her ultimate goal is to graduate as a Dental Hygienist and actively contribute to educating and assisting patients with gum diseases and decay. Mia is passionate about combatting and preventing reversible issues like gingivitis and helping individuals living with periodontitis to manage their condition positively. While bone loss cannot be reversed, she firmly believes that it can be arrested with proper care and guidance.
Having graduated with distinction, Mia excelled at Trinity College Dublin, where she topped her class. Her dedication and hard work were recognized when she was awarded the Dental Council Award for the highest academic achievement in dental hygiene in 2023.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Mia remains a dyed-in-the-wool Dub, deeply connected to her city. Despite this, she enjoys exploring different parts of the world, having traveled across Europe and with her sights set on discovering Asia next. In her leisure time, Mia embraces her love for musical theatre, and you might have even caught her mesmerizing performance as the Bird Woman, singing 'Feed the Birds,' in an amateur production of Mary Poppins at the Helix.

With her unwavering passion for dental hygiene, patient care, and disease prevention, Mia is a valuable member of the dedicated team at Dame Street Dental. She works alongside the dentist and the patients themselves, serving as a partner in their ongoing oral healthcare journey. Her mission is to promote excellent oral hygiene habits and ensure that each patient's smile is healthy and radiant for years to come.
