Dr Mohammed Shirin

Dr Mo Shirin is the founder of Truly Dental, Boris Laboratories and Boris Manufacturing ENG which now employs over 80 dentists and 500 people across 3 countries in the group.He founded Truly with a vision of providing affordable next generation care to as many patients as possible by marrying his two passions - technology and dentistry.

Dr Shirin is the youngest student ever to be awarded an entrance exhibition scholarship to study Dentistry in Trinity College Dublin aged 17. He graduated with a first class honours degree in Restorative Dentistry with a passion for oral surgery and implant dentistry. His drive to excel led to postgraduate surgical training in Miami Florida, USA where he spent time with the world’s preeminent authorities on bone biology, bone grafting and dental implant surgery. He was awarded a dual fellowship from the International Dental Implant Association and International Congress Of Oral Implantologists.

Following his US tenure he then completed a 2 year masters degree in Frankfurt Germany in Oral Implantology with his thesis topic being “Clinical Outcomes Of Platelet Rich Plasma To Enhance Bone Augmentation Procedures” giving him a comprehensive approach to both the surgical and prosthetic aspects of implants.

Having an interest in orofacial pain led him to complete the 1 year joint post graduate cert with Trinity College Dublin and the University Of Southern California on the management of neuropathic facial pain , temporomandibular joint disorders and headache disorders.Dr. Shirin is a member of the Irish Dental Association and Royal College Of Surgeons In Ireland.

In order to improve outcomes Dr Shirin founded a precision engineering factory “Boris Laboratories ENG” which employs dental technicians, CAD CAM engineers, machinists and ceramists to manufacture and ensure quality control on all parts utilised within Truly. Truly is the only dental clinic operating company in the world which has access to Swiss lathes producing sub micron parts as well as an array of conventional 5 axis mills and metrology machinery for precision inspection.

When not performing surgery Dr Shirin spends his time in the Boris laboratory innovating with the engineering team . His current research interests pertain to metallurgy and material choice in implant dentistry.
