Dr Barry Comer

Dr Barry Comer

Dr Barry Comer is originally from Galway and commenced his healthcare career with an undergraduate degree in physiotherapy from University College Dublin.

A keen interest in head and neck anatomy and a desire to work in a practical and specialised career then led him to dentistry, and he qualified with honours from Trinity College Dublin in 2018 with a first class honours in Oral Surgery and Oral Medicine. He was awarded the Royal College of Surgeons Adrian Cowan medal as the top ranked student. His unique blend of expertise in both dentistry and physiotherapy positions him as a rare professional in the field. Dual qualifications allow him to offer a comprehensive approach to complex dental rehabilitation.

Following several years of work in private practice and having a keen eye for detail Barry developed a passion for restorative and cosmetic dentistry, which led him to complete a 2 year postgraduate diploma in Advanced Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry through the University of Portsmouth. He trained with some of the top restorative dentists from around the world and now integrates this learning into all aspects of his daily practice here in DSD and Truly Donnybrook, with a focus on aesthetic and cosmetic treatments. His naturally artistic backround and innovations in digital dentistry allows Barry to achieve the best possible results for his patients.

Barry's approach to dentistry is caring and conscientious whilst paying a high attention to detail.

He continues to keep up-to-date with the latest developments in dentistry by regularly attending courses and is a member of the Irish Dental Association and an affiliate of the Faculty of Dentistry at the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland. Dr Comer’s calm nature helps patients to feel at ease and he endeavours to ensure that each dental visit is as pleasant and as painless as possible.

Outside of dentistry Barry enjoys running, competing at half and full marathon distances, as well as cycling, drawing and painting.
